Welcome to Lunaria

Hello, readers. Welcome to a very special Scene Saturday.

This week on social media, I’ve been tearing the veil between worlds. You’ve learned that the mystery at the heart of The Night Chronicles is not just a human one. Magic is real. Witches are real. And the secrets our characters keep stretch far beyond a small town. Today, I want to give you your first official glimpse into the world that lies beyond our own: Lunaria.

So, where did Maya come from? Where did Margaret Mitchel’s power originate?. The answer is not on any map you know.

In my imagination, Lunaria is a shadow realm, a kingdom of perpetual twilight that exists parallel to our own world. It is a place of ancient power, gothic beauty, and beings who operate on a completely different moral code.

This is not a world of good versus evil in the way we understand it. It is a world I've designed to be governed by rigid, ancient laws, and terrifying hierarchies. At the top of this hierarchy sits the First King, a being of immense power and absolute order. Daemon, my antagonist, is his Prince and heir. They are not chaotic monsters; they are rulers and enforcers of a magical, feudal system.

The influence of Lunaria and its unyielding king on our world is the central conflict that drives the entire Night Chronicles saga. A pact made with its rulers is absolute. A debt owed is always collected. And when its agents step into our world, they bring the laws of their shadow realm with them, with devastating consequences for those who stand in their way.

Yours from another realm,

June Skye
